G. Gladys "Dea" (Whitley) Kirk, 90, of Chelyan, died Thursday, August 23, 2012, at Golden Living Center, Glasgow.

Dea was born and raised in Ward and worked 21 years at the Ward Company Store.

Dea was preceded in death by her parents, Clarence and Martha Seasor Whitley; husband, Clinton W. Kirk; brother, Herbert Whitley; and sisters, Garnet Smith, Pauline Sparks and Juanita Stanley.

Dea is survived by her only child, daughter, Sandra Dea (Danny) Moore of Chelyan; grandchildren, Stevie (Amanda) Moore of Oak Hill, Brandon (Racheal) Moore of Hurricane and Kirk Moore of Chelyan; great-grandson, Hayden Moore; and several nieces and nephews.

Service will be 11 a.m. Monday, August 27, at Cooke Funeral Home Chapel, 600 Old Fort St., Cedar Grove, with the Rev. Danny Moore, the Rev. Brandon Moore and the Rev. Marvin Horan officiating. Burial will follow the service in Kanawha Valley Memorial Gardens, Glasgow.

Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
