Wanda LaVaughn Martin Send Condolences
Wanda LaVaughn Martin 89 of Nitro joined her husband and love Gene, and her infant daughter Lisa and family and friends in Heaven on July 23rd, 2012.
She was the youngest child of O.G. and Laura Wallace of Stockport, OH. “Vonnie” as her friends called her was raised with six brothers and sisters.
During WWII she moved to Columbus, OH to work. After the war she met Gomer Eugene, married and had four children.
Vonnie retired from CAMC General Division where she worked in the Pharmacy.
She is survived by one daughter LaDonna Evans and two sons Gary (Connie) and Tim (Jan) Martin. Six grandchildren, Travis (Michelle) Martin. Stacey, Nick and Chad Evans and Danielle and Chris Martin. One Great Granddaughter Adelle Martin.
Vonnie was very active with St. Paul’s United Methodist Church and the Women’s Club of Nitro.
Services will be Thursday, July 26th, 2012 at 1:00 PM at the St. Paul’s United Methodist Church 20th St. Nitro with Dr. Okey Harless officiating. Burial will follow the services in Cunningham Memorial Park St. Albans.
Friends may call Thursday July 26th, 2012 from 11:00 AM till service time at the Church on 20th St. in Nitro.
The family would like to thank the staff at Teays Valley Center for the care given to our Mom in her stay at the Center. The family would also like to thank Hospice Care in the Final Days of her life.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to St. Paul’s United Methodist Church Nitro.
