Sylvia P. Carpenter Send Condolences
Sylvia Pearl Leach Carpenter, 80, of Elkview, passed away Monday, June 11, 2012, at Hubbard Hospice House, Charleston, after a long illness.
She was born September 17, 1931, in Blakeley, to the late Charles and Alpha Richards James.
She was a member of the Advent Christian Church, and lived her life as an honest, happy and kind-hearted loving Christian woman. She never met a person who she didn't witness God's love along life's journey.
A devoted wife, mother, sister and friend to all, Sylvia was one-of-a-kind, and will be missed by many.
She was preceded in death by her husbands, Ira Eugene Leach and Estel Carpenter; and sons, Anthony Eugene Leach and John Paul Leach.
Sylvia is survived by her children, Janice (Lloyd) Smith of Clendenin, Don (Kim) Leach of Tad, Debra (David) Beard of Glen Ferris and Richard Leach of Elkview; grandchildren, Kendall (Laura) Smith of Pinch, Christopher (Penny) Smith of Clendenin, Tonya Leach and Don W. Leach Jr. of Tad, Ira W. Leach of Ohio, Jordan, Rianne, Ethan, Dillion and Avery Leach, all of Texas, and Laura Beth Beard of Ohio; 10 great-grandchildren; and sister, Rosabelle Lawhorn of Indiana.
Service will be 1 p.m. Friday, June 15, at Cooke Funeral Home Chapel, 600 Old Fort St., Cedar Grove, with Pastor Terry Johnson and Pastor Nahum Balser officiating. Burial will follow the service in Montgomery Memorial Park, London.
Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
