Emma M. Johnson          Send Condolences

Emma Mae King Johnson, born to Archie and Memphis King on Oct. 17, 1925, passed into eternal peace in CAMC General Hospital ICU on Oct. 28, 2011. Mrs. Johnson died as a result of injuries sustained in an auto accident on October 7.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 53 years, Clifton "Toots" Johnson. Although Emma Mae was 86 years old at the time of her passing, she led a very active and fulfilling life until incapacitated by the injuries so needlessly suffered in the accident.

Emma Mae was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend to many.

Left to cherish wonderful memories of her are her daughter, Patty Tompa; grandchildren, Susan (Todd) Carroll and Jeff Tompa; and great-grandchildren, Caitlin and Lily Mae Carroll.

Her daughter is so thankful to God for the mother that he so lovingly handpicked for her so many years ago.

Emma Mae attended Glasgow Church of the Nazarene for many years. Her current family in God was Hughes Creek Community Church. Patty and children would like to thank the many friends from both churches for the care and concern they have expressed during her hospital stay. Patty would also like to thank her many friends who have stood by her during this difficult time. We take solace in knowing that our loved one is now in the presence of Jesus. Patty prayed every time she left the hospital that Jesus would wrap his loving arms around her mother in a big hug. She is now and forever at rest in his arms.

Service will be held at 7 p.m. Sunday, October 30, at Hughes Creek Community Church with Pastor Gary Tucker officiating. Private burial will be Monday in Montgomery Memorial Park.

Friends may call at the church one hour prior to the service.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that contributions be made to Hughes Creek Community Church Building Bund, P.O. Box 153, Hugheston, WV 25110, or to a charity of your choice.

Condolences may be sent to the family via www.cookefuneralhome.com.
