Jack R. “Jackie” Summers Jr., 60, of Dupont City went home to be with the Lord Tuesday, January 26, 2010, after a sudden illness.

He was born September 25, 1949, in Ward. He attended Hughes Creek Community Church for almost 30 years. He was employed by 405 Capitol Street as a security guard for 12 years.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Jack R. Summers Sr. (also known as Frank Brown) and Imogene Summers; and grandparents, Edward and Ethel Hundley.

Surviving are his wife of 37 years, Ann; son, Jamie R. Summers-Brown of South Charleston, whom he was so very proud of and loved beyond words; uncle and aunt, Don and Clara Hundley; sisters-in-law, Pat McGill and Alice Ferrell; sister-in-law and brothers-in-law, Lynne and Ray Singleton and Jim and Hollis McGill; brothers-in-law, Marshall McGill and Charles McGill; and best friend and neighbor, Red Neil.

“To be absent from the body is to be present with the Lord.”
