Avalena Gray Send Condolences

Avalena “Peany” Asbury Gray, 88, entered into rest Sunday, January 3, 2010, at her daughter's home after a long illness.
She was born May 18, 1921, in Poca and was a homemaker. She was a member of Rock Branch Independent Church. She was a loving wife, sister, mother and grandmother. She loved to go camping and fishing. Her hobbies included quilting and gardening.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Franklin and Lona Asbury. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, George Denver Gray; daughters, Grace Ann Gray, Ethel Shank, and Barbara Mosier; sisters, Erma Asbury, Vada Goodwin, Dorothy Bailey and Mabel Ogburn; and brothers, Alton Asbury and Grandville “Mutt” Asbury.
She is survived by her son, Denver “Chipper” Gray and his wife, Vicky Gray, of Nitro; daughter, June Gray Young and husband, Fred Young, of Cross Lanes; and sisters, Naomi “Tissie” Bailey of Poca, Helen Womack of St. Albans, and Imogene “Fuzzy” Arthur of Bancroft. She had 10 grandchildren, 24 great-grandchildren and seven great-great-grandchildren.
