Judy A. Adkins          Send Condolences

Judy Ann Hackney-Adkins, 62, of Big Mountain passed away Tuesday, October 27, 2009.

Do not stand at my grave and weep.
I am not there, I do not sleep.
I am the thousand winds that blow,
across the mountain tops, brightly covered in snow.
I am the gentle showers of rain on West Virginias fields of grain.
I am the morning hush,
of the mountains forest, so green and lush.
I am the drums, loud and grand
the thunderous hooves, across the open land.
I am the birds that sing,
a part of every lovely thing.
Do not stand at my grave and cry,
I am not there, I do not die.
-Mary Elizabeth Frye

Everyone who knew Judy knew her in a different light. She could be that beautiful rose on a springtime morning, or that screeching crow, mocking you from the distance. Like Forest Gump's box of chocolates, you never knew what you were going to get. Miss Judy may have had no children of her own, but she was truly a mother to us all.

Judy is survived by her sister, Teresa Smith; cousin and best friend, Laura Mae Mullins; five nieces and nephews and seven great-nieces and -nephews; and the extended family she adopted.

Love you the most. Miss you the most. Got'cha.

Memorial services will be held at a later date.
