Holly L. Cross          Send Condolences

Holly L. Cross of Nitro passed away on Saturday, October 17, 2009, her 34th birthday, at Thomas Memorial Hospital after a short illness.

Holly lived most of her life in Nitro and was a Baptist. She was a 1993 graduate of Nitro High School and a graduate of West Virginia State University. She received her master's degree from Marshall University in 2002.

Holly was a published poet, worked as a jewelry designer and taught classes at West Virginia State University. She also worked for Charleston Newspapers in the Circulation Department.

Holly was preceded in death by her grandfathers, James F. Cole of Poca and Ben Cross of Nitro; and her cat, Daisy.

Surviving are her mother and father, Mary Ellen Cole Cross and Alan Cross of Nitro; sisters, Julie Marie Cross of New York and Wendy Hatfield of Nitro; grandmothers, Geraldine Cole of Nitro and Shirley Cross, also of Nitro; aunts and uncles, Brenda and Jim Cole of Hurricane, Lynn and Hershel Facemyre of Nitro; aunt, Suzanne Cross of Nitro; many cousins and friends who will miss Holly greatly; special friend, Phoenix; and Holly's special pets, Sydney, Dylan, Stevie, Callie and Elliott.



Memorials:
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Putnam County Animal Shelter, 1 Sabre Rd., Winfield, WV 25213, or to the Kanawha-Charleston Animal Shelter, 1248 Greenbrier St., Charleston, WV 25311.
