Gerald A. Foster Send Condolences

Gerald Allan “Jerry” Foster of Charleston passed away at home on Wednesday, August 19, 2009.
He was born in Ward and moved to Nitro at an early age, where he attended Nitro public schools. Jerry attended West Virginia State College and was a graduate of Marshall University in 1961 with a degree in music education.
He was a band director and educator for 28 years at schools including Hurricane High School, Nitro Junior High School and Nitro High School.
Jerry was a long time member of St. Paul's United Methodist Church in Nitro. There he served as choir director for several years, Sunday school superintendent and treasurer.
He was a member of Pontiac Oakland Club International and Nitro Antique Car Club.
Jerry was preceded in death by his parents, Cecil and Nina Warf Foster.
He is survived by wife of 49 years, Donna Wolfe Foster; daughter, Laura Schuda and her husband, Chris Schuda; and granddaughter, Maggie, who was the light of his life. He is also survived by brothers, Clinton, and his wife, Joan, of Ronceverte, Melvin and his wife, Ida, of Staunton, Va., and Charles and his wife, Dorinda, of Dunbar; and sister, Janice Milam and husband, Frank, of Lewisburg. Also surviving are brother-in-law, Jim Wolfe and his wife, Mary Lou; and sister-in-law, Frances Fortune and her husband, Bill, all of Nitro. He leaves behind many beloved nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Paul's United Methodist Church.
