Lloyd W. Rucker Send Condolences
Lloyd W. Rucker, 80, of Pond Gap passed away at home after a long battle with cancer, surrounded by his loving family on Tuesday, July 21, 2009.
He was a long time resident of Pond Gap and had also resided at Gallagher and Ward, WV. He was a Protestant. He was a former Coal Miner, having worked at Valley Camp Coal Co. and Balser Trucking, and was a WV Certified Mine Foreman and WV Certified Electrician. He was also a Committeeman with the Democrat Party – Cabin Creek District, a board member of Multi Capp of Kanawha Co, former Boy Scout Troop Leader, Troop No. 153, Blakely, WV, and a former President of Tri Creek Coon Hunting Club. He was an avid hunter who loved the woods and his trips to camp in Pendleton Co.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Huey and Effie (Balser) Rucker; his brothers, Lawrence, Lenville, Gary, Cephus, and Lee; sister, Goldie Johnson.
He is survived by his loving wife of 58 years, Louise (Dillard) Rucker; sons and their wives, Marvin (Donna), Kenny (Violet), Tony (Marilyn), all of Pond Gap; and guardian son, John Buckland of Sissonville; grandchildren and their spouses, Brian (Mary) Rucker, Joey (Marie) Rucker, Tracy (Chris) Sparks, Bradley (Peggy) Rucker, all of Pond Gap, Shannon (Anthony) Canterbury of Lexington, Kentucky, Joshua (Christy) Rucker of Cross Lanes, Danielle (Rick) Maddox of Charleston, Angela (Justin) Taft of Velseck, Germany; great grandchildren, Tyler Allyssa, and Whitney Sparks, Jacob and Justin Rucker, Tristin and Abby Rucker, Brandon, Brittani and Bethany Rucker, Makayla Canterbury, Levi Maddox, and Eli Taft; step great grandchildren, Savannah, Randy, Matt, and Will Weese, Brendan Maddox, Josh, Christina, and Savannah Hamilton; brothers, Ronald (Geraldine), Arlie (Prisilla) Rucker of Pond Gap, Kenneth (Naomi) Rucker of Clendenin; sisters, Esther Raines of Mammoth, Donna Morris of Glasgow, and Ruth Richmond of Lagrange, OH.
Special thanks to the nurses and staff 3rd floor ICU, nurses and staff 4th floor Intermediate Care Unit at CAMC Memorial Division and Kanawha Hospice Care Nurses and Staff.
