Dale Elswick          Send Condolences

Dale Elswick, 61, of Glasgow, after a long illness, went to his Heavenly home on Sunday, March 3, 2013, from Hubbard Hospice House in Charleston. He was welcomed into Heaven by his mother, Lilla Mae Galford; father, Melvin Elswick; brother, Phillip Elswick; and son, Joseph Mark Elswick.
Dale was husband of Connie Griffith Elswick; father of Cher Szerokman (Shawn), Jeffrey Elswick (Melanie) and Joey Elswick (Bethany); grandfather of Peyton, Jacob, Alexandra, Mallory, Caroline, Lucian, Terrin and Briar; and brother of Phillip Elswick, Paul Elswick (Nancy), Peggy Light (John) and Twila Jordan (Randy).
In his 33 years of ministry, Dale served as pastor to Faith Baptist Church (formerly in Hugheston), Eskdale Missionary Baptist Church, First Baptist of Chesapeake and Cedar Grove Baptist Church. He continued with his ministry even after his health required him to step down as a pastor in August 2011. During his time at Hubbard Hospice House he told every visitor that he was "poor in health but rich in spirit."
Dale was an employee of Valley Camp Coal Company as an electrician, CAMC and Fresenius Medical Care as a biomedical technician and was a retired member of the Glasgow Volunteer Fire Department.
Service will be noon Thursday, March 7, at Cedar Grove Baptist Church with Pastor Tom Skaggs, Pastor Tom Holstein and the Rev. Chester Bird officiating. Burial will follow the service at Kanawha Valley Memorial Gardens, Glasgow.
Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Cedar Grove Baptist Church.
The family would like to thank the staff and volunteers at Hubbard Hospice House for the wonderful care given; and to special friends and family who visited Dale and the family, providing comfort by sharing memories, laughter and tears; and a special thank you to Wanda Turley, who was a wonderful and faithful caregiver to Dale and to Connie when they needed her most.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Hubbard Hospice House, 1001 Kennawa Drive, Charleston, WV 25311.
