James C. Puckett          Send Condolences

James C Puckett, 87 of Hugheston died February 27, 2013 at Montgomery Elderly Care, Montgomery, WV, his residence of the last 1 ½ years.

Born November 3, 1925, Jim was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, son, brother, uncle, and friend to all who were fortunate enough to know him. Jim served in the United States Navy during WWII aboard the U.S.S. Clairmont. Throughout his lifetime, Jim was employed by Alloy Chemical, Elk Furniture, General Department Stores, and Clayton Lester, among others before becoming an appliance repairman for Sears Roebuck & Co., where he retired.

A devout follower of Christ, Jim was a member and Elder of Hugheston Presbyterian Church until its closure and later attended Montgomery Presbyterian Church and Glasgow United Methodist Church.

He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Pauline Johnson Puckett; infant daughters, Doris Ann Puckett and Jane Ann Puckett; parents, Edgar Puckett and Cora Martin Puckett; infant twin sisters, Vivian and Virginia Puckett, and infant sister Betty Puckett; brothers, Earl MacArthur Puckett and Edgar Lloyd Puckett.

He is survived by his daughters, Sharon Puckett Hardesty (John) of Glasgow and Vicki Puckett Acord (Gary) of Beckley; grandchildren, Ginny Acord Osborne (Tony) of Plant City Florida, James Hardesty of Glasgow, Adam Acord of Beckley, and Teresa Hardesty of Charleston; great-grandchildren, Hailey Osborne, Banyan Hardesty, Austin Osborne, and Tessa Acord; sisters, Ida Mae Kinser of Live Oak, Florida, Goldie Stone of Citronelle, Alabama, Rose Evans (Gene) of Mobile, Alabama, Carol Davis of Jackson, Alabama, and Barbara Noaeill of Seneca, South Carolina; and aunt, Emma Lee Martin of Citronelle, Alabama, as well as a host of nieces, nephews, other family members and beloved friends.

The family would like to extend a most sincere thank you to the staff of Montgomery Elderly Care for their continued care and support of Jimmy, not only during his illness and stay with them, but also in the seven years prior, while his beloved Pauline was in their care.

Friends may call 6-8 PM, Friday, March 1, 2013 at Cooke Funeral Home, 600 Old Fort Street, Cedar Grove, WV 25309. Funeral service will be held 11:00 AM, Saturday, March 2, 1013 at the funeral home with the Rev. John A. Massey officiating.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to: Glasgow United Methodist Church, Glasgow, WV; Grace Baptist Church, Beckley, WV; or the WV Chapter of the Alzheimer’s Association.
